Welcome To MBSR
At Flow!
Learn to reduce stress, ease anxiety, and move through your day with greater clarity and calm.
Through this work, you’ll:
✔ Build self-awareness
✔ Respond more thoughtfully to stress
✔ Shift reactive habits into intentional actions
We are proud to offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the renowned program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and recognized as the gold standard in mindfulness training. Backed by decades of research and originally created at University of Massachusetts Medical School, MBSR is one of the most trusted and widely studied approaches to stress reduction and well-being.
At Flow Yoga Center
We offer in-person 8-week MBSR programs throughout the year at our studio. Practicing together, in person, creates a powerful and supportive environment—one that deepens learning, connection, and real, lasting change. Flow is one of the only places in the DMV offering this experience in a live, in-studio setting.
For Corporate Clients
We also bring MBSR to organizations in a format that works for your team. While the full experience is offered over 8 weeks, we provide flexible 4-, 6-, or 8-week series with 60-minute sessions that integrate seamlessly into the workday. These sessions focus on practical, science-based tools employees can use immediately to reduce stress, improve focus, and build resilience.
What to Expect
Each session is a guided, experiential practice designed to help participants better understand and work with stress. Sessions include:
Mindfulness meditation and breath awareness
Gentle, accessible movement
Tools for navigating stress and improving focus
Reflection and integration for real-life application
Participants are supported with simple practices they can carry into daily life—both at work and at home.
Who This Is For
This program is especially helpful if you are:
Navigating ongoing stress at work or in life
Looking for practical, sustainable tools to feel better
Wanting to improve focus, clarity, and emotional balance
Interested in a more grounded, intentional way of living
What People Are Saying
“This was one of the most impactful things I’ve done for myself in years. I’m calmer, sleeping better, and handling stress in a completely different way. The practices are simple but powerful—and they actually stick.”
Meet Your Teacher: Janelle Mirabeau
Janelle Mirabeau MSN, RN, RYT-500
Janelle’s path to teaching mindfulness and yoga began during her work as a critical care nurse, where yoga became an essential refuge amid the intensity of hospital life. After relocating to the DC metro area, her personal practice deepened and evolved into a calling to share these tools with others. She completed both her 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher trainings at Flow Yoga Center and is a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher through Brown University School of Professional Studies.
Rooted in the belief that even in the midst of life’s chaos, each pause holds the potential for insight and care, Janelle is dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive space to slow down, cultivate awareness, and reconnect with inner resilience. Whether you are new to mindfulness or seeking to deepen an existing practice, she meets students with compassion, curiosity, and respect—exactly where they are, one breath at a time.
Research conducted in the decades since MBSR was created shows that the majority of people who complete the program later report significant benefits, including an increased ability to deal with both short and long-term stress, decreases in both physical and physiological symptoms, a strong sense of relaxation.
