About Flow

Since Flow Yoga Center’s humble beginnings in 2004, we’ve had two primary goals: 1) to create a warm and uplifting space for people to gather in community, support one another and explore the depths of a modern day yoga practice, and 2) to create an authentic home for the DC area’s most beloved and experienced yoga teachers. About The Job

Flow’s Human Resources & Training Manager is the lead decision-maker and hands-on manager for Flow’s “front of house” HR program - which currently includes 15 managers and 60 volunteers. This position leads Flow efforts to hire, train, retain, supervise, and nurture community within our front of house team. As part of Flow's senior management team, this position also plays a lead role in helping define and implement all strategic planning at Flow.

This is a full-time, at-will, FLSA-exempt management position.

Job Responsibilities

  • oversee Flow’s “front of house” HR program, including management of the following for all “front of house” staff...

    • recruiting/hiring/onboarding

    • training - including ongoing mentoring

    • scheduling

    • personnel records management

    • payroll & benefits (401k, health/dental, PTO)

    • ongoing supervision - including both reactive and proactive management, goal-setting and reviews

  • develop comprehensive communication strategies to ensure awareness of organizational and staff needs

  • manage Flow staff community-building - both through ongoing interaction/communication and periodic social events

  • manage Flow’s front desk on scheduled shifts.

  • collaborate with Flow's senior management team to help define and implement all of Flow's strategic priorities.

  • at least 1 year of HR and training experience - esp. shaping/managing systems for...

    • training (including up-front training and ongoing mentoring)

    • performance reviews (and associated carrots/sticks to encourage peak performance)

    • staff-wide communications - to ensure staff stay abreast of key info and engaged in constructive 2-way communication

  • at least 1 year of people and/or team management experience

  • at least 1 year of retail-oriented customer service experience

  • demonstrable leadership experience - with proven ability to anticipate and respond to needs proactively, work independently, and problem-solve constructively

  • excellent written & verbal communications skills - including strong public speaking

  • demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with tact courtesy, diplomacy and discretion

  • highly organized with a superb attention to detail

    • familiar with “Getting Things Done” task management or similar

Job-holder Qualifications (preferred)

  • a passion for yoga and a regular yoga practice

  • tech savvy - expertise with all things Google, MS Office, staff scheduling software, Slack, etc.

  • proficiency with MindBody Online

  • work experience at Flow Yoga Center

  • experience managing a yoga studio

  • experience with event-planning and hosting

  • experience administering payroll & benefits (401k, health/dental, PTO)

Job Hours

  • 40 regularly-scheduled hours/week (specific times/days TBD)

  • flexibility to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends

Salary & Benefits

  • a competitive HR Manager salary commensurate with skills and experience

  • 160 paid time-off hours/year (accrued at 40 hours/quarter). Any hours that you don't use in given quarter will be rolled over to the next quarter, and any time that you don't use in a given year can be rolled over to the next year.

  • 401k retirement plan After one year of service, for employees working 20+ hours/week. We currently match up to 4% of employee's voluntary contributions.

  • healthcare plan - For employees working 30+ hours/week only. We currently have two options: 1) a PPO plan with United Healthcare where we pay for 50% of premiums. Employee contributions are deducted pre-tax by our payroll company. 2) 50% coverage for staffer's individual healthcare plan premiums (up to $100.00/month)
