We are dedicated to making everyone who comes through Flow’s doors feel like a welcomed friend, and creating an oasis to balance our busy urban lives. An authentic smile, a cup of tea, a clean, cozy and supportive space to practice, lounge, and mingle ... These are just some of the ways we love to take good care of you. We're committed to fostering an inclusive community that celebrates the fullness of each person and their unique expressions of religion, race, color, sexual and gender identity, age, life experience, and socioeconomic status.
How we show up for each other. We nurture community through Satsang, the ancient tradition of coming together for meaningful connection to support the awakening of what is extraordinary in each of us. Whether it is sharing complimentary tea in our lounge post class, gathering for our annual Yoga on the Mall or practicing together in the city's extraordinary spaces we are committed to community building and elevating our collective consciousness.

Our centers was designed by a LEED-certified architect, received the DC Mayor's Award for Environmental Excellence and was featured in Yoga Journal as a standard for how to run an eco-friendly studio. Virtually every choice we make aims to reduce our eco-footprint and help us live in greater harmony with our planet.
We’re a local family owned and grown community studio filled with world-class yoga love and inspiriation- since 2004.
Since our humble beginnings (the first studio space was originally located on the 3rd Fl. of our P Street locale), our dream for Flow has always been two-fold... one, to create a warm, welcoming space for DC's movers, shakers and changemakers filled with spirit and possibility to gather in community, connect and explore the depths of a modern day yoga practice, and two, to create an authentic home for the areas most beloved and experienced teachers.
In this way we can serve world-class yoga and offer a rich schedule that ranges from more gentle, spiritually & physically nourishing classes to powerful strength & sweat based offerings, mindful lifestyle & transformative social justice programming.
Today, Flow is a DC treasure and thousands (local & out of town guests) join us each week for our class experiences. Our offerings continue to deepen as a vibrant reflection of the growth and interests of our community.

Ian’s professional life is focused on inspiring people to nurture life on earth – starting especially with their own wellbeing. He currently serves as the Director of “Flow” for Flow Yoga Center, which he co-owns with his wife Debra. There, he ensures operations run smoothly for the bustling Flow community, which currently numbers over 2,000 visitors per week. Prior to that, Ian worked for 12 years directing online communications departments and organizing activist supporters for the Campaign for America’s Future and the National Wildlife Federation. Ian received an MES from Yale’s School of Environment and a BA from Princeton University, and in both places focused on how to empower progressive social‑movement networks – esp. through online technology. Outside of yoga and activism, Ian spends as much time as possibly playing (mostly in the great outdoors) with friends and family.
