Shawn began to practice yoga at 12 years old, and it has been the guiding force of her life ever since. Today, her life is a tapestry of sacred learning – weaving together over a thousand hours of teacher training in multiple lineages, an academic foundation in poetry and religious studies, continuous immersion in the ancient traditions and contemporary innovations of yoga, and the daily light of living yoga. more»
While her “style” is ever evolving, Shawn’s teaching is rooted in the open system of Prana Flow: a synthesis-oriented approach to living the art of yoga created by her primary teacher, Shiva Rea. Born from the traditions of classical yoga, Bhakti, Tantra and Ayurveda, Prana Flow integrates various forms of spiritual embodiment practice to reveal yoga as a flow of unity consciousness. Shawn is honored to serve as an assistant to Shiva and mentor for the Prana Flow global teaching collective. She is also a student of Buddhist psychology and holds teaching certifications in Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage, and Yin Yoga. With gratitude and dedication, Shawn mentors 200 and 300 Hour Teacher Training programs, leads retreats and workshops worldwide, and teaches regular classes. She is a catalyst of the annual DC Global Mala, part of a worldwide event that raises awareness and funds for issues such as global warming, fair trade, and equal education opportunities – and serves as Director of Programs for Anahata Grace, an international nonprofit organization committed to bringing yoga and other wellness services to communities in need. Shawn’s deepest intention in teaching is to hold space for others’ awakening and healing in yoga.
