Jen Dryer

Jen is a native New Yorker who moved to DC in January, 2009 (on Inauguration weekend!), after 14 years of living in NYC. She began her journey into yoga in late 1996 to help combat the stress of life as a NYC public school teacher, and since then has made yoga an integral part of her world. While continuing to work in the NYC public school system (until December, 2008), she completed her 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher training at Sonic Yoga in NYC in 2006, under the amazing wisdom and guidance of Lauren Hanna and Jonathan Fields. She was trained to teach in both Prana Flow yoga and Power yoga styles, reflecting her teachers' diverse backgrounds. The variety in her training has served her well, and made her practice and teaching style well rounded. As a new mother (she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Zack, in September, 2009), she is ever more thankful for yoga, which not only was invaluable both physically and mentally throughout her pregnancy, but also in her recovery and new role as a mom. moreĀ»
She has led classes with adolescents, pre-adolescents, weary NYC public school teachers, young and older adults and loves sharing what yoga has given her with others. Her classes embody flow and mindful movement, while also attending to alignment and breath. She has been blessed to attend various classes and trainings with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Rod Stryker, Cyndi Lee and Seane Corn. Beyond her wonderful teachers at Sonic Yoga and those at Flow with whom she practices regularly, Jen's yoga teaching influences include a variety of teachers she has practiced with and learned from, including Twee Merrigan, David Regelin, Schuyler Grant and Susan "Lippy" Orem, all of whom she practiced with regularly in NYC.
