Clare Kelley

Clare’s classes incorporate the Fuse Pilates method, a low-impact, high-intensity blend of Pilates, yoga, dance, and barre exercises.  Her Pilates and yoga career began in 1999 as a complement to her various athletic activities – running, rowing, rock climbing, surfing dancing, and even a (somewhat accidental) stint on the Costa Rican national aerobics team’s kickboxing squad! A climbing injury led Clare to better appreciate the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of Pilates and yoga, qualities she hopes to channel to her students. She draws on a wide range of activities to help students of all shapes and fitness backgrounds build core strength and grace for long, lean, and flexible bodies integrated with energetic but peaceful minds.

Clare’s fitness education includes Pilates apparatus training at Balanced Body University; Step, Aerobics, and Kickboxing Skills and Choreography from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, and 200-hour yoga teacher training. She graduated from the inaugural Fuse Pilates teacher training and now assists with developing the training curriculum. The other side of her health career is dedicated to global public health, taking her to all corners of the world to build health capacity in developing countries. As a graduate student in global public health and international development, her research centers on cross-cultural analysis of healthy body image and its role in effective health programs.

Clare’s teaching style: Clare’s classes inspire students of all fitness levels to challenge their limits in a lighthearted, non-competitive environment while listening to some sweet tunes. Expect anything from push-ups to teasers with toys thrown in; she will actively try to get you to laugh -- a great exercise for physical and mental health! Her goal is that students walk out of class feeling tall, accomplished, and balanced.
