Prana Flow - Living Yoga
300-hr Teacher Training - 2013-2014

Jess Lazar, Shawn Parell & Greg MarzulloJoin master teacher Shiva Rea and beloved DC teachers -- Jessica Lazar, Shawn Parell, Greg Marzullo, and many more -- for DC’s 300-hour Prana Flow® teacher training program, hosted by Flow Yoga Center. This certification merges the great rivers of Tantra, Yoga, Ayurveda, Buddhist Philosophy and much more. The approach to learning is at once embodied, ecstatic, creative and synthesis-oriented, and is especially complementary to the self-motivated yoga practitioner who wants to integrate diverse life experience under the Great Tree of Yoga.

We aim to provide our teachers with a broad and deep base of Vinyasa Flow, by which they are empowered to live and teach Prana Flow® Yoga. The entire program offers teachers over twenty sun salutations, as well as fifteen Prana Flow® series, that encompass the full range of yogic experience -- from meditation to advanced asanas -- as potent forms of activism and service.

Our dynamic approach to the art of living and embodying yoga is supported by the 270 contact hours with our skilled and devoted faculty, and by heart- inspiring “Om Work" for your further contemplation.

Your study of Prana Flow® will be both practical and experiential, bringing you into the rhythm of your life as a householder and a teacher. We seek to guide practitioners toward balance and integration: of the ancient roots and modern methodology of Yoga with the teacher’s freedom to discover and express an evolutionary and liberated path of study and practice — with Shiva and all other teachers.

Our program is open to yoga students with at least one year of active study in asana-based yoga practices. Students must have a 200-hour certification from Yoga Alliance.

Description: Deepen the way you breathe, move, teach and flow in the yoga of life.  Embodying the Flow immersion is for aspiring and seasoned teachers serving as an introduction to a holistic, energetic approach to teaching vinyasa as more than a technique or style of yoga, but a way of guiding the flow of our body, practice and life.  Based upon the teachings of Krishnamacharya's lineage, Tantra, Sacred Arts,  Ayurveda,  Bhakti and Somatics, Embodying the Flow™ models a synthesis approach integrating the roots and evolution of living yoga; which draws from Shiva’s 20 + years of teaching in the fertile soil of LA's yoga community and annual retreats to India.

The purpose of this training is threefold:

  1. to deepen your personal practice as a laboratory for exploring the creative potential of vinyasa;
  2. provide tools for teaching vinyasa and enlivening the flow of your classes; and,
  3. focus on how to embody the flow of daily life with the rhythms of teaching.

Sadhana practices will be dedicated to in-depth practice, afternoons to the elements of teaching vinyasa yoga, and evenings to theory and discussion.

Areas to be covered include:

  • Philosophical roots of vinyasa yoga and embodiment of Tantric Hatha Yoga
  • Learn to teach the bandhas and ten Sun Salutations (3 classical and six innovative namskars) to enliven your sadhana and life
  • Learn Surya Namaskar, Chandra Namaskar, Classical Namaskar, and four Dancing Warrior Sequences for teaching and self-practice.
