Gregory Stuart

Gregory Stuart found in yoga a means to more deeply understand his physical body, his mental tendencies and his spiritual connection. Having been engaged in personal development from a young age, he has come to see that a major thrust of his life has been to realize his personal potential. He has learned to be deliberate and persistent in this quest. Along the way, he has become a teacher who, with compassion for the process, encourages his students to realize their potential. Gregory's mission is to co-create a world of self-actualized people by sharing his gifts with others and by fearlessly taking steps towards his own heart's desires.moreĀ»
He brings all of his skills as a teacher and a fellow traveler into the yoga & Pilates room to be exceptionally present, intuitive, humble and most of all supportive for his students. Recognizing that it is the journey inwards that is the significant journey in our lives, he holds space for that exploration every time he leads a yoga class.
Gregory's formation was in Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Not only has he studied with Baron Baptiste himself, but with two of his master teachers, Coeli Marsh and Elizabeth Huntsman. He is an RYT 200. Currently he finds his major influence in yoga to be the teaching of Dharma Mittra. He holds Pilates certifcations from PhysicalMind Institute through Body College in DC and from The Thinking Body, Charlotteville, VA.
Off the mat, Gregory is a classically trained singer and actor, performing, directing and teaching voice and drama. He is an avid francophile and loves gardening, genealogy and Celtic music.
Teaching style: Gregory leads a challenging, alignment-based Power Vinyasa practice, emphasizing self exploration, both for its own sake and to perceive and move towards what is possible, and the combination of breath and drishti (focus) to develop concentration and to allow in awareness and insight. Taking the role of a friendly guide on the yoga journey, his words are simple, direct, essential. He is very real and very present in the yoga room for his students with an eye towards helping each individual progress, teaching through verbal cues and skillful hands-on adjustments.
