DIRECTIONS TO ABRAM'S CREEK

The retreat will take place at Abram's Creek Retreat & Campground -- located on U.S. Rt. 50 between Elk Garden & Mount Storm, West Virginia. It's about a 150 miles due west of Washington DC. If you want to map the location (on Google Maps, Mapquest, etc.), search for Mt. Storm, WV, which is just 3 miles west of Abram's Creek Retreat & Campground.

From Washington DC and points south in Virginia:

  • Take I-66 West from the Washington DC "beltway" (I-495).
  • From the beltway, travel on I-66 W for approx 65 miles and exit onto I-81 North.
  • Stay on I-81 N for 10 miles to exit 310 - Rt. 37 North (toward Rt. 50)
  • Stay on Rt. 37 N for 4-5 miles and take exit for Rt. 50 West
  • Stay on Rt. 50 W for approx. 72 miles.
  • The last 5 miles will be the top of Allegheny Mountain. When you see the turn off for Elk Garden (Rt. 42 North), you are only 4.7 miles to Abrams Creek Retreat & Campground - located just off of Rt. 50. Just before the turnoff for the campground, you will come to a concrete bridge that crosses Abram's Creek -- a labeled waterway. (NOTE: You'll see blue reflective campground symbol signs just before the entrance to the campground.)
  • Turn right at the bridge onto a gravel road (NOTE: At this turn-off, you'll see a 6'x12' Abram's Creek Campground billboard with yellow background). Proceed along the gravel road and look for signs for parking and registration.

NOTE: If you end up in Mt. Storm, WV, you went about 3 miles too far. The Abram's Creek bridge and property are well labeled off of Rt. 50 from both east and west.

From Maryland and points north of Washington DC:

  • From the intersection of I-70 and I-68, take I-68 West for approx 40 miles, and exit onto Rt. 220 South.
  • Stay on Rt. 220 S for approx 25 miles - through Cumberland, MD and past Keyser, WV -- and turn right at the exit for Rt. 50 West. (NOTE: Rt. 220 S joins Rt. 972 S for several miles -- past the Walmart in Keyser, WV).
  • After you turn right onto Rt. 50 W, travel for approx. 12 miles to Abrams Creek Retreat & Campground - located just off of Rt. 50.
  • When you see the turn off for Elk Garden (Rt. 42 North), you are only 4.7 miles to Abrams Creek Retreat & Campground.

ARRIVAL / PARKING / REGISTRATION

When you arrive, signs for parking and registration will be clearly marked. Our Registration and Guest Services Desk will be located in the main Lodge House. Registration is open on Friday, July 23rd (2-11pm) and Saturday, July 24th (8am-1pm). The Guest Services desk will be staffed throughout the weekend. Check-out is Monday, July 26th (11am).

LATE ARRIVALS ON FRIDAY NIGHT

If you expect to arrive on Friday night after 11pm, please call our emergency contact number -- (304) 446-5383 -- as soon as you're able to notify the Retreat Coordinator. When you arrive, look for signs for "Late Parking". If you're camping, look for signs for "Camping" and feel free to set yourself up in any available camping spot. If you're reserved for a cabin or the lodge house, proceed to Cabin #8 (next to the Late Parking lot) which we've reserved for late comers, so as not to disturb sleeping retreat participants. Proceed quietly to Cabin #8 and take the first open sleeping spot.

In the morning, come to the Registration Desk and we'll get you registered and fully settled into your accommodations for the weekend.
