Forward Bends


Forward Bends are an important part of every yoga practice.  Yoga Journal reminds us of their amazing benefits:

  • Stretches the hamstrings, calves, and hips
  • Strengthens the thighs and knees
  • Improves digestion
  • Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause
  • Reduces fatigue and anxiety
  • Relieves headache and insomnia
  • Therapeutic for asthma, high blood pressure, infertility, osteoporosis, and sinusitis

Contraindications and Beginners:  Be sure not to "lock" knees.  It is recommended beginners or those with back injury approach most forward folds, whether standing or seated with bent knees.
