Gather. At our heart we are a local, loving, homegrown DC community space. Our students and staff family are the heart and soul of what makes Flow so special.  Our commitment to fostering community is based on Satsang,  the ancient tradition of coming together for meaningful connection to support the awaking of what is extraordinary in each of us. We offer space & time in between our classes for lingering and deepening of our connections to each other, our city and our purpose.

A Rich Class Schedule
Everyone's welcome. With nearly 100 classes each week, you’ll always find one to fit your mood, your practice, and your schedule. Our classes are rooted in respected traditions that nurture holistic physical, mental, and spiritual growth. Offerings range from classes designed for absolute beginners to deeply experienced practitioners -- classes that’ll make you move and sweat or slow down and relax, that’ll tap your inner dancer or empower the warrior within you, or that'll simply bring you home to your own body to release stress, detoxify, and heal.

Yoga for Health & Wellness
Heal. Modern medicine has started to embrace what yogis have known for a long time: that, in the hands of a gifted therapist, yoga has a profound power to heal. Flow’s Wellness program is led by a group of talented yoga therapists dedicated to affirming and supporting your innate power to heal. Through regular workshops, small group classes and private one-on-one sessions, they’ve helped countless people leverage yoga to manage conditions, reduce symptoms, restore balance, and regain health.

World-Class Guest Teachers
Magic can happen when you drink directly from the source. Flow is humbled and honored to host a stellar line-up of world class yogis, change agents and global visionaries -- including Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Radanath Swami and many others. We feel genuinely blessed that our teachers' teachers have made Flow their DC home-away-from-home, and that we can help share their light with the nation’s capital.

Fundraisers, Charitable Giving & Karma Yoga
Serve. We gather regularly to take our yoga off the mat and each year we raise thousands of dollars and donate countless hours for local and global causes that are close to our hearts including our dear friends at N Street Village and One Common Unity. We also recognize the power of uniting people in community and are proud to be founding organizers of DC’s annual Global Mala, DC Yoga Week and Yoga on the Mall.

Natural flooring throughout.  Our centers was designed by a LEED-certified architect, received the DC Mayor's Award for Environmental Excellence and was featured in Yoga Journal as a standard for how to run an eco-friendly studio. Virtually every choice we make aims to reduce our eco-footprint and help us live in greater harmony with our planet.


Our Roots


Since our humble beginnings in 2004, our dream for Flow has always been two-fold... one, to create a warm, welcoming space to gather in community, connect and explore the depths of a modern day yoga practice, and two, to create an authentic home for the areas most beloved and experienced teachers. In this way we can serve world-class yoga offerings based on deep tradition and knowledge that best meets our students where they are on their yoga journey. This translates to a rich schedule that ranges from focused alignment based teachings to more gentle, nourishing classes to powerful strength based offerings to full spiritual immersions.  At our core we are a home grown, locally based and care deeply about our community. Our motivation is to serve you, nourish you and inspire you. We love DC! 

Today, students and teachers alike travel from all over the DC metro area and beyond to study and enjoy their practices at Flow. Our tribe is flourishing and our offerings continue to deepen as a vibrant reflection of the growth and interests of our community.

Flow's co-founders are Debra and Ian Mishalove. They first met through their jobs while Debra was living in San Francisco enjoying classes at Yoga Tree and Global Yoga and Ian was living in Washington DC taking classes with one of the cities most beloved teachers, Jill Abelson. Their first "meeting" was over the phone when Ian, who worked for the National Wildlife Federation was in the market to purchase advocacy software.  Debra, his able salesperson, quickly convinced him that her company's product was the best fit for his needs.  Throughout their conversations, they discovered their common love for yoga. Their first date was in NYC in 2001 at the Jivamukti Yoga Center. Two long distance-relationship years later, they both ended up in NYC for a month long yoga teacher training with Alison West of Yoga Union. It was there that the idea for Flow came to life along with a marriage proposal. Today they live together in Adams Morgan with their two little boys, Jonah and Leo, and their dog Chakra. Most days they are at the studios so please be sure to say hello!
